1.raise
[用法一] vt.舉起;抬起;揚起;升起
例1: The box is too heavy I can't raise it箱子太重我舉不起來。
例2: At that time I thought I could never raise my head again那時我相我可能再也抬不起頭了。
例3: The car raised a dust as it went by 轎車經過,揚起一陣塵。
例4: The soldiers raised a white flag士兵舉起的白旗.
[用法二] vt 提高;提升
例1:The price was raised to $10.價格升到了10美元。
例2:Have you raised the wages?你長工資了嗎?
[用法三] vt 提出
例如::May I raise a question before the meeting is close?散會前我可以提個問題嗎?

raise ,rise與lift的區別:raise, 作及物動詞,表示由于人為的原因而上升、提高。Rise作不及物動詞,多指由于自然現象的原因而上升、提高。Lift是指用休力或機械力把某物從地面舉到一定的高度。
例1: The speaker raised his voice so that we could hear him
演講者提高了聲音,以便我們能夠聽清楚。
例2:As a result of the dam, the water level of the lake was going to rise by 63metres由于興建了水壩,湖水的水面將升高63米。
例3:Can you lift the basket from the ground?你能把這個籃子從地上提起來嗎?
2.time
[用法一] n.[U]時間,時候
例1: Time never stands still 時間不會停滯不前。
例2: The time has come for us to speak out 是我們大膽講話的時候了。
[用法二]n.[C]一段時間,時刻
例1:You have taken a long time writing the letter 你用了很長時間寫這封信。

4.advice
[用法]n [U]忠告,勸告,建議
1)a piece of advice 一條建議,勸告
例如:If you take my advice and study hard, you will pass the exam如果你聽勸,用功學習,你就會考試合格。
2)give some advice on 就某事提出意見
例如:In one of his books, he gave us some advice on how to learn a foreign language well 在他的一本書中,他就如何學好外語給了我們一些忠告。
3)follow/take one's advice 接受某人的意見
例如:He followed my advise and study hard 他接受了我的建議,努力學習。
